Water Efficiency

With an aim to continually improve the efficiency of water use, MCS has implemented a set of step-by-step programs focused on water efficiency improvements and conservation of water resources which are in line with the sustainability goals of the “The Coca‑Cola Company”.

Since 2010, MCS has implemented a program to decrease water use in operations which has resulted in reducing the water consumption by 29%. Our current water use ratio of 2.18 liters of water per liter of beverage. We are further aiming to improve this achievement and reduce the water consumption per unit of product down to 1.7 liters by 2030.

Water Ambassador of Mongolia

In 2010, MCS Coca‑Cola became the first in its industry to introduce an advanced Waste Water Treatment Plant with the capacity to purify 2,000 tons of water per day, as part of its commitment to protecting water sources. The water discharged from this facility meets the MNS 4943:2015 standard for treated wastewater released into the environment of Mongolia and is purified to a level that supports aquatic life.

Reuse of treated wastewater

We supply the treated waste water free of charge to some originizations in the Ulaanbaatar city, capital of Mongolia. Such good practice enables us to substantially contribute to the protection of clean drinking water resources. In 2024, 9,912 tons of water reused, conserving fresh water resources..
