Coca‑Cola partners with The Ocean Cleanup across Southeast Asia
Around the world, rivers carry a huge amount of plastic and other waste into our oceans. The Ocean Cleanup Interceptor is the first scalable solution to prevent plastic waste in the environment, entering the world’s oceans from rivers.
No two rivers are the same. This partnership supports the trial of innovative ‘Interceptor’ technology including solar powered boats, barriers, guards and tenders, to help clean and stem the flow of plastic from rivers into oceans.
Bringing together Coca Cola teams on the ground together with The Ocean Cleanups technology, the partnership is helping scale solutions, getting one step closer to tackling 1,000 rivers.
The solar-powered robot extracts plastic autonomously and is capable of operating in many of the world’s most polluting rivers.
Coca‑Cola has supported deployments in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia – where a new waste sorting facility opened in 2025.
Beyond financial support, Coca‑Cola supports The Ocean Cleanup across Southeast Asia including driving on-the-ground awareness of the project and its mission, and providing waste management advice.
