Celebrating Diversity with a Pop-Up Billboard
26-02-2014
To celebrate one of the world’s greatest, gayest cities, Coca‑Cola’s iconic billboard in Kings Cross has been decked out in all the colours of the rainbow. As proud supporters of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, Coca‑Cola has unveiled a multicoloured design for the billboard at the top of William Street.
The pop-up Coca‑Cola signage will display the rainbow flag for a week in celebration of the diversity of the LGBT movement. Extending its support for pride events in Australia and abroad, Coke designed a special poster to adorn the billboard.
“It’s just the rainbow with the Coca‑Cola Dynamic Ribbon device running through it,” explained Assistant Brand Manager Danielle Johnson. “It’s not a branded campaign – just a celebration.”
The sign reflects the company’s longstanding commitment to protect employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, according to Public Affairs and Communications Director Kristene Reynolds.
“We have long been a strong supporter of the LGBT community and have advocated for inclusion and diversity through both our policies and practices,” she said.
“As one of the world’s most inclusive brands, we value and celebrate diversity.”
