How the Bubbliness Began
Our name - and our everlasting effervescence - comes from our pioneering founder, Jacob Schweppe: a Swiss jeweller, master craftsman, and restless innovator.
In 1783, unsatisfied with being among Geneva’s finest watchmakers, Jacob perfected the art of bottling bubbles and became the first in history to produce carbonated soft drinks on a mass scale. Soon after, he journeyed to England in search of new opportunities - and something a little more exciting.
His sparkling creation quickly captivated high society and caused quite a stir. Over 240 years later, that same effervescence and spirit of innovation remain at the heart of everything we do.
