Coca‑Cola partners with The Salvation Army to bring Aussies together over a special meal this Christmas

01-12-2022

Thursday 1 December 2022: Coca‑Cola has today announced the third year of its Christmas partnership with The Salvation Army.

This festive season, Coca‑Cola and The Salvation Army are partnering to bring the magic of Christmas to life by bringing Aussie families and vulnerable communities together over delicious meals at events across the country.

While Christmas is a time of celebration for many, this year The Salvation Army is expecting one of its busiest festive seasons yet. Interest rate hikes and rising inflation are impacting everyday Aussies and the most vulnerable even more so. Coca‑Cola is partnering with The Salvation Army to provide over 1,400 meals at festive events nationwide, including in Sydney, Liverpool, Lismore, Melbourne, Cairns and Unley.

The lunch and dinner events hosted by The Salvation Army bring Aussie families and vulnerable individuals in some of Australia’s most disadvantaged communities together for a special meal. Coca‑Cola is also donating $50,000 to the Salvos 2022 Christmas Appeal, which allows The Salvation Army to provide much needed shelter to Aussies with nowhere to sleep, gifts for kids who would otherwise go without, hampers for people struggling to afford basic meals and support for those impacted by natural disasters.

We are also extending our support beyond these key Christmas events through our partnership with DoorDash. Coca‑Cola will donate up to $200,000 worth of meals during 16 – 18 December, when customers purchase a meal combo via DoorDash.

Kate Miller, Marketing Director at Coca‑Cola Australia shares “It’s partnerships like this that enable us to give back that make Christmas so magical and we’re proud to partner with The Salvation Army for a third year. This partnership is all about giving back at Christmas – to friends, family and local communities who need it most. We hope that our partnership helps to spread the joy and magic of Christmas at this special time of year. The impactful work The Salvos undertakes truly makes an incredible difference to the lives of those doing it tough.”

Major Bruce Harmer, The Salvation Army’s National Public Relations Secretary, says “This festive season we’re hearing the same message from all of our amazing volunteers – there’s a huge demand for support in the community. Generous partners like Coca‑Cola help The Salvation Army get the funds we need to ensure no one gets turned away from receiving support this Christmas. No matter what you can give, it all helps to keep Christmas alive for Aussies who are facing real hardship.”
