Coca‑Cola Malaysia Shares Ramadan Blessings with Families in Semporna
SABAH, MALAYSIA – 16 March 2026 – Coca‑Cola extended its Ramadan community support initiative to East Malaysia, partnering with Yayasan Ikhlas to reach families in rural and water village communities across Sabah. The initiative aims to share the blessings of Ramadan with vulnerable households facing limited access to essential food supplies, providing food baskets and new Raya clothing to ease their burden and bring joy to their celebrations.
The programme focuses on communities where access to daily necessities is often limited, with many families relying on local networks and charitable support to meet their basic needs. Through this initiative, households received essential food supplies to help them prepare meals for iftar and sahur, enabling them to observe Ramadan with greater comfort and peace of mind. In addition, the team joined the families for an iftar session, fostering a spirit of togetherness and strengthening community bonds.
“Ramadan is a time for reflection and sharing. After supporting communities in other parts of Malaysia for some time, it was meaningful to extend that support to families in rural and water village communities in Sabah. Working with Yayasan Ikhlas, we were able to reach families in rural and water village communities in Semporna, bringing essential support and a little joy during this special month. It was inspiring to witness the generosity and togetherness in each community we visited.” said Khairul Anwar, Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability Director, Coca‑Cola Bottlers for Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei.
The partnership with Yayasan Ikhlas brought together local knowledge and trusted community networks to ensure that support reached the families who needed it most. Distribution plans took into account the challenges of reaching remote villages, including those accessible only by boat, so that essential supplies arrived safely.
In total, nearly 600 families across approximately three water villages and rural communities in Sabah received support. Yayasan Ikhlas helped identify households in need and assisted with distribution, reinforcing the spirit of care and community that is at the heart of Ramadan.
Coca‑Cola’s initiative in Sabah formed part of a wider effort to support communities across Malaysia, focused on solidarity and sharing during the holy month. Working alongside organisations such as Yayasan Ikhlas, the programme helped strengthen community bonds and spread a message of hope and goodwill.
“Working with Coca‑Cola allowed us to extend our support to families in remote areas of Sabah, who might otherwise have struggled to celebrate Ramadan. It was wonderful to see the relief and happiness it brought. Ramadan is a time to care for one another, and this initiative helped bring that spirit to life,” said Bilal Jailani, General Manager of Yayasan Ikhlas.
This initiative celebrated the true spirit of Ramadan, embodying the values of sharing, generosity and care and demonstrated how even small acts of support can make a meaningful difference in the lives of families and bring people closer together during this special time.
