What is the process to customize a product?
The Share a Coke personalization tool allows Coca‑Cola fans to celebrate with one another and make connections by creating bottles and cans with special names or phrases on them.
Product Personalization Process
1. Submission Stage
◦ On the website, select your preferred bottle or can, and use the text field to type in your preferred name or phrase.
2. Preview Stage
◦ Consumers then see a visual preview during the customization process. The preview is not an approval; all content is reviewed against our moderation guidelines, and prohibited submissions are rejected before production.
▪ Phrases that are recognized as violating guidelines are automatically detected by our system and are not shown in preview mode. Consumers are unable to add these orders to their cart.
▪ Any phrase that has not been previously submitted and denied can be previewed and will then enter “In Review Pending” Status.
3. Order and Moderation Stage
◦ Once a consumer places their order (of the personalization seen in the “preview” mode), the order enters an “In Review Pending Status.” Then, a manual review and human moderation process vets the submission.
▪ Personalization orders that pass moderation are processed and shipped.
▪ Phrases that do not pass moderation are canceled, refunded, and not fulfilled.
▪ Denied phrases are added to the system so they cannot be previewed in future submissions.
Our safeguards are in place to prevent the approval and production of cans and bottles featuring religious, political, trademarked, inappropriate, or otherwise restricted terms and phrases.
