Effective Date: July 7, 2025

This Supplemental Biometric Data Notice applies to consumers who are eligible to participate in the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR experience (also referred to as the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars HoloCreator AR experience in some markets) offered by The Coca‑Cola Company and its affiliates (Coca‑Cola) (the “Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience”). Please see local Terms for eligibility criteria.

This Supplemental Biometric Data Notice supplements but does not replace our Consumer Privacy Notice. It applies to Biometric Data (defined below) collected and processed in connection with the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience.

BY PARTICIPATING IN THE COCA-COLA X STAR WARS AR EXPERIENCE YOU ACKNOWLEDGE, AGREE, AND CONSENT TO THE TERMS OF THIS SUPPLEMENTAL BIOMETRIC DATA NOTICE. IF YOU DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE, AGREE, AND CONSENT, YOU MAY NOT PARTICIPATE.

What is Biometric Data?

Depending on your location, photos, voice recordings, and videos that you choose to share may constitute Biometric Data. For the purpose of the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience, Biometric Data means your video that identifies or can be used to identify you.

Coca‑Cola collects Biometric Data only with your specific consent and for consumers over the age of 18.

By participating in the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience, you agree to provide a video recording of your face and audio of your voice, and share your motion and orientation, for the purpose of creating a 3D character. Your video and audio file will be processed for visual effects so that your face can be mapped and superimposed onto a 3D character in real-time, along with your audio recording.

Why is Biometric Data Collected?

To participate in the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience, you must consent to the collection and use of your Biometric Data by Coca‑Cola and the service providers working on Coca‑Cola’s behalf to make the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience available for you.

We use your Biometric Data to convert your digital facial scan into a 3D character to create a 3D hologram.

We use your Biometric Data only for the purpose of the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience, or as otherwise required by law. Coca‑Cola does not collect, use, store, or disclose your Biometric Data without your consent. If you choose not to provide this consent, please exit the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience.

How will we process your Biometric Data?

  1. Your video will be collected when you consent to using your microphone and camera and when you provide us with access to your motion and orientation. While recording your video, we use a third-party plug in called Media Pipe to recognize your face and remove any pixels in the video that are not part of your detected face (e.g., body, foreground and background removal) and measure multiple data points on your face to allow us to use augmented reality to virtually map your face onto your chosen Star Wars character.
  2. Your video upload will be sent to our servers and moderated to ensure brand safety and compliance, by third-party AWS Rekognition Services. We do not share data with AWS to improve and develop the quality of AWS Rekognition or other Amazon machine-learning/artificial-intelligence technology. You can see more details about how your video will be processed by AWS Rekognition here: Amazon Rekognition – FAQs.
  3. Once moderated the media file with your face and audio will be transposed onto your chosen character and you will be able to share it, once you are logged into a registered Coca‑Cola account.

How long will we store your Biometric Data?

Coca‑Cola requires its service providers to securely and permanently destroy the Biometric Data using industry standard practices when the initial purpose for collecting or obtaining such data has been satisfied.

If you are not signed into your Coca‑Cola account, the character will be available for you to view for 2 hours and then deleted.

If you chose to sign into your Coca‑Cola account following the creation of your Star Wars character, Coca‑Cola will retain your character video for a maximum of six months unless you make a deletion request. If you are signed into your Coca‑Cola account, the character will be available for you to download for approximately six months, or until the end of the experience.

If at any point we determine that you are not eligible to participate in the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience, your character will be deleted immediately.

Will we share your Biometric Data?

Unless otherwise required by law, your Biometric Data is only accessible to Coca‑Cola and our service providers, such as AWS, who process your Biometric Data on our behalf to enable your participation in the Coca‑Cola x Star Wars AR Experience. We do not share Biometric Data with other third parties unless required by law. We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your Biometric Data.

We may disclose your Biometric Data to our authorized service providers or other third parties only if:

  • You or your authorized representative consent to the disclosure;
  • the disclosure is required pursuant to a valid warrant, subpoena, or court order issued by a court of competent jurisdiction; or
  • the disclosure is required by law. How does Coca‑Cola protect and store Biometric Data?

How does Coca‑Cola protect and store Biometric Data?

Coca‑Cola protects and stores your Biometric Data using a reasonable standard of care that is at least as protective as the way Coca‑Cola collects, stores, transmits, and protects other confidential and sensitive personal information. Coca‑Cola requires that its service providers protect Biometric Data to this same standard.
