Partnering with Landcare Australia since 2006
Since 2006, Coca‑Cola Australia and our bottling partner, Coca‑Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP), have proudly teamed up with Landcare Australia on a range of impactful projects, helping support and strengthen communities across the country.
Landcare Australia CEO, Dr Shane Norrish said, “Thanks to the generous support of Coca‑Cola in Australia over many years, we have had the opportunity to bring communities together to address significant environmental and sustainable land management issues.”
The most recent partnership initiative - The Farm Dam Restoration Project - launched in 2022 and aims to improve drought resilience, wildlife habitat and water quality.
Improving Drought Resilience through Farm Dam Restoration
Coca‑Cola in Australia awarded Landcare Australia with a $600,000 grant to regenerate nine degraded farm dams across South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria.
Many farm dams across Australia are in poor condition - polluted and devoid of native vegetation. But, research from the Australian National University shows that with the right care, these dams can be transformed into thriving wetlands, restoring biodiversity and providing vital habitats for native wildlife.
The three-year project will show how degraded dams can be restored and transformed, providing benefits to biodiversity,
sequestering carbon dioxide, while improving water quality and farming productivity.
For Phase One of the project, three South Australian sites were identified to showcase how degraded farm dams can be transformed into thriving ecological communities while improving on-farm productivity.

Mel McLaren in Adelaide Hills is one of the landowners involved in Phase One of the project.
"It’s been a fantastic experience to be part of the Farm Dam Restoration project. Farm dams are vital for water security and play a key role in supporting the land and broader ecosystem. Without access to water, the land can't thrive. This project is helping farmers and landowners restore their farm dams while sharing knowledge to ensure long-term success for others in the future."
Landcare Australia CEO, Dr Shane Norrish said, “This project is a collective effort, showcasing how enhancing farm dams can improve sustainable water management in Australia. Working with Coca‑Cola in Australia, we’re making a difference to farm life.”
The Farm Dam Restoration Project is part of Coca‑Cola in Australia’s commitment to help address UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’ by creating solutions for the availability and sustainable management of water in Australia.
