Introduction to Media & Broadcast
Meet Broadcaster + Content Creator Jenny Chiu
Media And Broadcast Video 1 – English Subtitles
Hi, I'm Jenny Chiu, and I'm so excited to welcome you
to the media and broadcast section of FC Academy.
Broadcasting is a world I found myself in somewhat unexpectedly, but
one that I absolutely love.
I grew up playing every sport I could,
but soccer was the one that stuck.
I had some natural talent and I was fortunate enough
that my father saw that talent, and he worked to find me resources
so that soccer could lead the way to a great college and
opportunities to travel the world.
I studied broadcast journalism while playing at UNC,
the University of North Carolina.
And then I interned at the Portland Timbers and Thorns,
making content and pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
I had to literally be pushed in front of the camera,
but luckily I had a great support system encouraging me to try it.
Since then, I've worked professionally with CBS Sports and DAZN,
but I didn't always plan on being on air.
But with the right advice and a bit of bravery,
I have found my place in the world of broadcast.
And I'm super excited to share this awesome world with you guys,
as well as a little bit on my other half of my media presence, content creating on social media.
In this course, I'll do my best to cover the ever-evolving world of
sports media, broadcast, and how content creation has flipped the script
for the FIFA World Cup™ among other things.
First up, we have to understand how we got here.
I'll rewind the tape and walk you through how media coverage has evolved
from radio calls to streaming in real time.
Let's get started.
