A memorable night with our 'The Last Stand' friends and family

London’s best street footballers gather for The Last Stand – the UK’s first ever female street football tournament

November 2021 saw one of the most exciting football events ever, as Coca‑Cola played a part in making history for women’s street football and sport as a whole. The Last Stand is the UK’s first ever female street football tournament, kicking off at Aston Villa on November 28th.

The Last Stand is no ordinary football tournament: Five minutes to win, first to score two goals goes through, and the winner stays on. The action promised to be every bit as frantic and fast-paced as the format, and we weren’t disappointed.

Six teams of six from boroughs across London played their part in The Last Stand, competing to take one trophy, and helping to unite different areas of the UK’s capital through one amazing event.

The hardy competitors lined up in brutal weather conditions, but as the snow fell, the action heated up, with some crazy skills, talent, and the desire to win on show. Margate’s Yo! Street Zone would eventually come out on top, taking home the silverware after a day to remember.

All eyes were on the players throughout, with England star and Aston Villa Captain Tyrone Mings among the spectators, turning up to offer advice to the players before kickoff..

No footballer or fan went hungry or thirsty throughout the event, with Coca‑Cola providing refreshments, and Nando’s also turning up to keep everybody fed throughout the afternoon, and MIND was on hand to share knowledge about the importance of mental health.

The players also enjoyed the media coverage they deserved, with news crews from ITV News, Dazed Mag and Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE among the media teams to cover the event.

Rounding off a truly amazing day, Natalie Haigh, Aston Villa women's first team player, presented the trophy to the winners, while EA Sports was also on hand to provide gaming and prizes for the fans, meaning Yo! Street Zone weren’t the only ones to go home happy.

After a historic event that Coca‑Cola was truly proud to play a part in, we look forward to future street footballing battles at The Last Stand 2022!
