Sport: Triathlon and Swimming
Hometown: Driffield, East Yorkshire
Angus has already broken multiple Guinness World Records, but he's only just getting started.
After joining Special Olympics GB as a swimmer, Angus competed in galas across the country before qualifying for the GB Aquatics National Championships in 2024.
Since then, he's continued to push himself in new ways, becoming both a marathon runner and triathlete. In 2025, he set three Guinness World Records, including becoming the youngest and fastest male athlete with an intellectual disability (II1) to complete a marathon.
With more record attempts ahead, Angus is now chasing his biggest ambition yet: representing Special Olympics GB at the 2027 World Summer Games in Chile and proving that limits are there to be challenged.
Matthew Leckonby, Angus’s father, said: “I think what people get wrong about intellectual disability athletes in sport is the unseen potential. Underestimate these athletes at your peril!
“His first competition was the most exhilarating event I’ve ever seen in my life. What is also really special is that last year there were two Special Olympics athletes that ran the London Marathon, and this year there were 10. And that’s just come from them witnessing what Gus and Lloyd did, and thinking, we can do that too.”
As part of Coca‑Cola's partnership with Special Olympics GB, we're celebrating athletes whose achievements inspire others and help change perceptions of intellectual disability.
Through our We Can campaign, we're shining a spotlight on athletes from local clubs to the national and world stage - recognising them as the role models they are and inspiring more people to see what's possible.
Together with Special Olympics GB, we're proud to help create a future where every athlete is seen, valued and celebrated.
