COCA‑COLA AND THE RIVERS TRUST
How we’re replenishing water supplies across Great Britain
In 2012, as part of our wider commitment to conserve vital freshwater ecosystems worldwide, we pledged to protect UK rivers and integrate sustainability into more of our operations. To help us achieve that vision, we partnered with WWF and The Rivers Trust.
Since then, our partnerships have instigated some awesome work – and triggered some vital conversations – around sustainable farming and smarter water stewardship across Great Britain.
In 2020, the need to find more nature-based solutions has taken on greater urgency. In the wake of COVID-19, we launched a three-year programme alongside The Rivers Trust to help support a green recovery. The programme focuses on establishing nature-based solutions to water risks and challenges in urban and rural locations across the UK.
Together with local Rivers Trusts Thames21, South East Rivers Trust and Northumberland Rivers Trust, we are helping replenish the aquifers and chalk streams in water-stressed areas in the South East and addressing the issues in flood-prone areas like the North East. We are also offering support to establish new urban wetlands in North and Southeast London, as well as some lovely new amenities for local communities to enjoy.

It’s important that we continue to find new ways to help improve our ecosystems and, in turn, the health and wellbeing of people in these affected areas. We look forward to sharing more exciting developments and updates about our ongoing water stewardship programmes, but in the meantime, check out the infographic below for a whistle-stop tour of everything we’ve been working on around the country...
In partnership with The Norfolk Rivers Trust The Coca‑Cola Foundation launched the Water Sensitive Farming initiative. The aim of the initiative is to help change the future of agricultural production in the area, by supporting the restoration of freshwater environments, nature, and landscape resilience.
