How Coca‑Cola is refreshing communities in Great Britain
At Coca‑Cola, we aim to deliver meaningful, long-term positive impact for people and communities in Great Britain through our soft drink production with our bottling partner, Coca‑Cola Europacific Partners.
As a global business that operates locally, we can extend our impact and reach because of the strength of the Coca‑Cola System.
In countries where we operate, jobs in our System (Coca‑Cola Great Britain and Coca‑Cola Europacific Partners) provide people locally with opportunities to develop their skills and careers within an exciting global organization.
The Coca‑Cola System supports a strong and stable ecosystem for local businesses, contributing to employment opportunities across a range of industries through our relationships with suppliers and customers alike.
In Great Britain as a System, we employ 22,000 people, and contribute to a further 43,800 jobs across our wider supply chain system.
Globally, these range from professional services – marketing, creative, sales and commercial – to a wealth of roles and industries throughout the local economy, including trade, manufacturing, business services, transport, public services and agriculture to name a few.
Does Coca‑Cola provide skills and training opportunities in Great Britain?
As well as the opportunities presented by careers at Coca‑Cola Great Britain and Coca‑Cola Europacific Partners, one difference that our System can make in the markets we serve, is in providing development opportunities for young people.
In Great Britain we are proud to support empowerment programmes which provide the next generation with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the world of work.
Coca‑Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) offers a wide range of different Apprenticeship Schemes, including: Sales, Merchandising, Food Technology and Engineering. Apprentices receive on-the-job training as well as valuable experience working alongside some of our highly skilled colleagues. This scheme was designed to equip young people with essential skills and valuable real-world work experience to set them on the path to success.
Since 2022, all CCEP apprentices have been given the opportunity to continue their studies once they have completed their program – gaining a degree with one of our university partners. Options for degree apprenticeships include: Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Business Management. Additionally, since 2017, 85% of apprentices have chosen to continue their career with CCEP. Others have made the decision to go into higher education full time, having gained valuable insight into the world of work.
Investing in young people is not only vital for their personal development, it’s also a key driver of economic growth and community resilience. This is reinforced by how many employees working at Coca‑Cola have engaged with our youth programmes to pass on their knowledge and help younger generations achieve their career objectives.
What else is Coca‑Cola doing to support local communities in Great Britain?
As a System, we remain committed to caring for the people across our value chain who contribute to our success— by empowering access to equal opportunities, supporting more sustainable agriculture practices, and giving back to communities through our philanthropic initiatives.
We’re a founding partner and global sponsor of Special Olympics, which runs year-round sports training and competition programmes for athletes with intellectual disabilities. We’re also a founding partner and supporter on a national level, since Special Olympics GB was first established in Great Britain in 1978. Through our annual funding we cover vital running costs for the charity, and our employees get involved with fundraising and volunteering.
These efforts reflect our aim to use our global scale as a force for progress and for good. While we adapt to the unique needs of each community, our ambition remains the same: for the benefits of our business to be felt locally, wherever we operate.
