With this design, I wanted to capture a sense of Texas nostalgia while incorporating the bold colors that are synonymous with the Coca‑Cola brand. As someone who grew up in a small Texas town, creating a mural in Madisonville is especially meaningful to me. My hope is that the cowboys gazing toward the horizon evoke a sense of optimism and possibility for everyone who experiences this mural.

Gabriel Portillo (AKA Paste)

Gabriel “PASTE” Portillo, hailing from the sweeping landscapes of West Texas, creates work that fuses tradition with innovation. Deeply rooted in the rugged beauty of the American West, his art draws heavily from Western influences.

Now based in Austin, Paste blends that raw Western spirit with the city’s eclectic energy. His work spans a range of styles, yet consistently returns to themes of cowboy culture, Native American imagery, and the shifting Texas landscape.

Portillo’s paintings act as a visual bridge between past and present—honoring the mythology of the frontier while capturing the pulse of modern Austin.
